Key Terms

  • DPS: Damage per second. A measure of a weapon's ability to destroy enemies.
  • Instantaneous: DPS in a hypothetical infinite-clip-size scenario.
    • Instantaneous increases as RoF and bullet count are augmented.
  • Sustained: DPS after accounting for time spent reloading versus time spent firing.
  • Uptime: Factor used to approximate sustained DPS as a fraction of instantaneous DPS. Cannot be greater than 1 (100%) for weapons with more than one shot per clip.
    • Uptime increases as Ammo is augmented and Cooldown and RoF are reduced.
    • Uptime is most accurate when Ammo is large (or when Ammo = 1), but tends to underestimate sustained DPS more strongly as Ammo decreases from large amounts, up to a 50% underestimation (i.e. sustained DPS is double what uptime would suggest) when the weapon fires 2 bursts before reloading.
      • A correction factor of (Ammo / (Ammo - 1) ) may be applied to remove this error. The result is referred to here as adjusted uptime.

All calculations assume that the player lands all bullets on each burst unless otherwise specified. Pilot Skills are assumed to be at maximum effect.
